Top 6 solar energy inventions
On an almost daily basis new objects appear that make life easier for us while we take care of the planet and the environment. Gadgets that use or produce renewable energy, such as solar energy, or promote saving water, reusing materials and daily items...
Those which arise from solar energy always imply an improvement for the environment, in addition to savings for us. In this way, you can help to reduce CO2 emissions while spending less money. We will show you the best inventions that use solar, renewable, clean and free energy.
Solar outlet
This gadget is a complete revolution, due to its practicality and comfort. This is an outlet which on one side has solar panels, and a suction cup for being able to adhere it to any glass (at home, car window...). So, it absorbs solar radiation and stores electricity. On the other side, it is a traditional outlet. Once charged, you can carry it in your pocket in order to connect it at any time to your cellphone charger, for example.
Portable Solar kitchen
The perfect solar gadget for the lover of the outdoors. The GoSun Kitchen uses solar energy to reach a temperature of up to 370ºC and thus cook whatever you like within 20 minutes. It is a portable kitchen that lets you boil, bake, fry... conserving 90% of the solar energy, which it captures thanks to its reflectors.
Available in 3 models (from $125, roughly €90).
Portable Solar computer
SOL is a laptop that works thanks to solar energy, and does not need to be connected to the electrical network. This laptop has been developed with the purpose of improving education in countries in development, but is also useful for travelers, or outdoorsman.
It operates on open source software (Ubuntu Linux), and it has a very low price (around $350, roughly €250), additionally it is very efficient since it is capable of charging, in just two hours, a battery that can be used for 8 or 10 hours of use. To achieve this it deploys solar panels that are located in the back of the laptop and it's ready to go, also, it's waterproof!
Solar backpacks
It seems like this sustainable 'invention' has been well received, since during travel, mountain escapes or visits to the beach, camping... a constant problem is charging iPads, cellphones, mp3, etc. Thanks to these backpacks that generate electricity by using sunlight, you can have electricity for your devices at any time and in any place (as long as there's sunlight).
Comfortable, practical and starting at $97 (roughly €70), we can enjoy clean energy easily.
Urban solar bags
For about $300 (€200 roughly), we can wear this urban bag, already in fashion in some countries. Invented by professor Joe Hynek, from the department of Mechanical Engineering at the State University of Iowa (US), the Solarjo Power Purse it is covered on the outside by small solar panels. Thanks to these, it can charge various electronic devices such as smartphones, mp3 players... And it does so with just 3 hours of exposure to sunlight. Currently, various brands have marketed solar bags.
Solar air conditioning
The LG brand presented the first air conditioning device fed by solar energy, which can reduce 212 kg of CO2 in 10 years. It combines the solar energy generated by the modular cells, producing up to 70 watts per hour. Currently, other companies dedicated to energy efficiency already market air conditioning devices with this technology. The savings earned is from 35% to 50% on the monthly bill, therefore, even though it can cost almost double (from €1900 or $2600), it pays for itself in a few years.
All of these new inventions operate thanks to a renewable energy source that protects the environment, and also the consumer's wallet. Solar energy, could satisfy the energy needs of our society 4,000 times over each year.
